“Shukuma” is an Afro House song and two-track EP released by the South African electronic music duo Drumetic Boyz on September 18, 2026. Released under Shimza’s prominent Kunye Records label (in partnership with Platoon), the project serves as a signature summer club anthem for the group.

The word “Shukuma” is derived from the isiXhosa and Zulu languages, meaning “to move”, “shake”, “stir”, or “shake things up”. True to its name, the song is conceptualised as an unapologetically energetic track that demands movement. It centers on the concept of surrendering entirely to the rhythm.

The track moves at a steady club tempo and is composed in the bright, uplifting key of A Major. It features an extended arrangement (6:21) explicitly tailored for club DJs to blend seamlessly into extended electronic sets.

It relies heavily on infectious, rolling layers and deep Afro-electronic grooves. Rather than depending on heavy vocal arrangements, it uses evolving percussive textures and dynamic rhythmic build-ups to escalate the room’s energy.

Running for 6 minutes and 21 seconds, “Shukuma” takes its title from a word commonly associated with a long discussion, debate, or dispute. Drumetic Boyz turns that idea into a relationship lesson, stressing the importance of honest communication, humility, and keeping conversations alive between two people.
